Inaccessible Curriculum as the Disabler

The principles of disability equality must become integral to education in general, for this is the predicate of a society in which persons with impairments can participate as equal citizens, a society that does not render those persons disabled … Persons may be impaired for many reasons but it is always and only an ableist society that renders these persons disabled. By limiting, diminishing and negating potential, the ableist society disables a proportion of the individuals therein, the result of which is damaging to the whole. (Bolt 2004)

This book provides key material to show how curriculum development is intimately linked to the concepts of the theory-practice space. In fact it can be argued in a similar manner to Barnett and Coate (2005), that:
"A curriculum ... has to be understood as the imaginative design of spaces where creative things can happen as students become engaged."

A group to share issues relating to developing accessible curriculum.
The aim of the project is to build capacity throughout the sector for professional development of teaching staff to enable them to develop accessible and inclusive curricula.
